We’ll be discussing the upcoming Engineers Week Banquet and SVEC President Yashesh Shroff short talk on Internet of Things: Opportunities and Challenges.
Abstract: From connecting ‘things’ in smart homes to commercial buildings, to transportation, retail, and even brownfield industrial manufacturing, the value of IoT is disruptive in every aspect. To fuel this new world, though, a number of technologies, disciplines, and standards must come together. This talk is about exploring the value of IoT and uncovering some of the challenges we must overcome if we have to realize the benefit of 50 billion connected devices by 2020, from sensors and microcontrollers at the edge, to the cloud network. We will look at various programming models as well as hardware and software tools that constitute a complete solution.
